From their first release they won awards, and have never looked back.-41-The higher elevation and north-facing slope of Block 6 provides a contrast with Block 2, with ripe fruit with delicate brioche notes and almond leading the aromatics. A mouthcoating and broad Chardonnay that is transparent, detailed, precise and sophisticated from the careful handling.A vivid nose of deep florals: dark roses, violets, and an undertow of ripe red fruit. The palate shows the best of each vineyard that makes up the cuvee in the pure but powerful drive of fruit on a perfect cusp of ripeness, with complexing notes of sandalwood and spice. Silken tannins finish the package.[97pts Bob Campbell, MW, The Real Review]An instant bath of flowers, fruits and spice in a wash of Cornish Point indulgence, all leading to a flowing silky finish. Through the entire palate there is a gentle mineral seam that stops anything from tipping over into excess, so it seduces rather than hollers. Will gain further complexity with age.[95pts Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review]Characteristic Calvert florals lead the nose with violets and dark rose petals dominating. The deep silt soils and naturally moderated vine vigour provides intensity and detailed, elegant tannins, the character of the site restraining the influences of a warm vintage. Fine and regal: a classic Calvert.[95pts James Suckling]The nose is dark, as is the colour, beguiling, but restrained. There is a stature to the palate, a definite sprig of herbs, chocolate notes, but still so transparent that every nuance is revealed. Extraordinary as it seems this is just the second time Felton Road have made MacMuir as a single vineyard release.[97pts Bob Campbell, MW, The Real Review]Fruit from 20-year-old vines is harvested early in the season to retain fresh acidity and moderate alcohol levels. A delicate pink hue, the nose shows attractive strawberry and raspberry aromas, an expressive palate shows ample berry and citrus flavours, leading to a crisp, dry finish.A lovely ripe lift of aromatics showing passionfruit, melon and pineapple, together with herbal notes of bell pepper and grass. The palate is concentrated and crisp, with lovely weight and a bright clean finish. A small percentage was fermented on lees in old French oak to add complexity.[Five stars, Cuisine Magazine December 2023 Issue]From a near perfect growing season, with each block picked for optimum ripeness. Bright lemon, nashi and floral notes combine to create a delicious bouquet on the nose. The palate is dry with lovely stonefruit characters, concentration and length, finishing with a freshness and balanced acidity.122601279412803128021280412101126481291512916125601267812649MarlboroughPinot Gris100% Alc.13.4% RS3.57g/LMarlboroughRiesling100% Alc.11.2% RS8.92g/LMarlboroughSauvignon Blanc100% Alc.12.9% MarlboroughGewurztraminer100% Alc.13.4% MarlboroughPinot Noir100% Alc.13.9% (Available from late-Dec.)Lawson's Dry HillsChardonnay Block 6 S’21Central OtagoChardonnay Alc.13.9% Pinot Noir Bannockburn S’22Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.2% Pinot Noir Cornish Point S’22Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.1% Pinot Noir Calvert S’22Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.3% Pinot Noir MacMuir S’22Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.6% Riesling S’18Sauvignon Blanc S’23Gewurztraminer S’23Pink Pinot S’23MarlboroughPinot Noir98.67%/Sauvignon Blanc0.67%/Riesling0.66% Alc.12.5% White Label Pinot Noir S’20Reserve Sauvignon Blanc S’23MarlboroughSauvignon Blanc100% Alc.12.6% Reserve Pinot Gris S’23
