The Ka Mate haka illustration on the label highlights its New Zealand origins.Classic Central Otago Pinot Noir. Aromas of berry fruit, spice herbs and savoury tones on the nose. The supple palate is full of red fruit flavours, with soft tannins balanced by refreshing acidity, leading into a long finish.A pioneer in Central Otago, the world's southernmost wine region, it takes a natural approach to making superb Pinots and cool climate whites, with biodynamic vineyards and minimal intervention in the winery.A pale rose gold from free-run juice with no skin contact, the Pinot Noir origin is apparent in the wild strawberry that leads the nose and contributes to a broad and textural palate. Red berries sit amongst a background of crushed almond. Surprisingly complex, yet delightfully approachable and lingering. Brooding aromas of wet stones, stonefruits and hints of lanolin, make for a complexing introduction. The mouthfeel opens with a burst of sweetness, immediately tempered by intense stonefruit flavours and crisp acidity. The completeness and beauty of the flavours dissolves the sweetness.[92pts Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate]The schist soils of Block 2 from the Elms Vineyard set the scene for this commanding and mineral infused Dry Riesling. Nashi, talc and floral notes dominate the bouquet. Notable weight and power through the mid-palate provides grandeur, with racy acidity leading to a sustained finish.[96pts Bob Campbell MW The Real Review]A surprisingly overt nose of citrus flowers, elderflower and crushed stone. The palate, by contrast, dances rather than shouts with white peach, citrus and florals woven around a centre spine of acid, with hints of brioche. The dance settles to a seamless saline and mineral finish, pure to the very end.[96pts Bob Campbell, MW, The Real Review]A vivid nose of deep florals: dark roses, violets, and an undertow of ripe red fruit. The palate shows the best of each vineyard that makes up the cuvee in the pure but powerful drive of fruit on a perfect cusp of ripeness, with complexing notes of sandalwood and spice. Silken tannins finish the package.[97pts Bob Campbell, MW, The Real Review] (See page 4 for more details.)A nose that bursts with Central Otago apricots and sunshine. The heavy silt soils of Block 1 provide texture and depth through the middle, making it difficult to separate the intense flavours of apricot nectar from the residual sugar. While appearing rich and powerful, it is refreshingly light on its feet.Citrus blossom, lemon zest and elderflower aromas typical of the lower lying, sheltered and east sloping Block 2. The palate introduces delicate white peach and melon, leading to a very pure and restrained mid-palate. It is fine, elegant and transparent, the schist soils making their mark. The more exposed and north facing slope of Block 6 counters the higher elevation, contributing to ripe fruit and bold expression. Initially tightly woven, it opens to reveal intriguing nutty and brioche notes. Impressive breadth and depth, with a mineral freshness brightening the long seamless finish. An instant bath of flowers, fruits and spice in a wash of Cornish Point indulgence, all leading to a flowing silky finish. Through the entire palate there is a gentle mineral seam that stops anything from tipping over into excess, so it seduces rather than hollers. Will gain further complexity with age.[95pts Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review]12406125741279512798127931279412799127961279712803Earth's EndFelton RoadPinot Noir S’21Central OtagoPinot Noir100% Alc.14.2% Vin Gris S’22Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.1% Riesling Bannockburn S’23Central OtagoRiesling Alc.9.7% RS59g/LDry Riesling S’23Central OtagoRiesling Alc.12.7% RS3.42g/LChardonnay Bannockburn S’22Central OtagoChardonnay100% Alc.13.9% Pinot Noir Bannockburn S’22Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.2% Riesling Block 1 S’23Central OtagoRiesling Alc.9.0% RS63.2g/LChardonnay Block 2 S’22Central OtagoChardonnay Alc.14.0% Chardonnay Block 6 S’22Central OtagoChardonnay Alc.13.9% Pinot Noir Cornish Point S’22Central OtagoPinot Noir Alc.14.1%
